General Function

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate skills necessary to perform a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. This role involves acquiring new households, deepening existing relationships, and processing teller transactions, working as part of the platform staff.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures. Always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. Achieves results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks within the Bank's risk appetite.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend solutions.
  3. Utilize CAMP and other marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments.
  4. Focus on cross-selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities.
  5. Establish relationships with Business Partners and refer customers for holistic solutions.
  6. Meet/exceed customer experience and production goals, contributing to revenue growth.
  7. Guide CSRs in sales and referral processes.
  8. Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and a helpful demeanor.
  9. Answer customer questions confidently and own customer issues.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and follow the Bank's code of conduct and policies.
  11. Participate in consumer loan and bankcard processes, from application to closing.
  12. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed.
  13. Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
  1. College degree, work experience, or a combination of both.
  2. Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  3. Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  4. Understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
  5. Professional representation of Fifth Third Bank.
  6. Knowledge of Retail policies and procedures for sound judgment.
  7. S.A.F.E. Act registration through NMLS at employment start.
Working Conditions
  1. Normal office environment.
  2. Extended viewing of computer screens.
  3. Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  4. Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training.
