GENERAL FUNCTION:

Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. There will be a certification at the conclusion of the program to demonstrate the skills necessary for a role within the Retail Personal Banker job family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. The role involves acquiring new households and deepening existing customer relationships through activities such as lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele-consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and working as part of the platform staff.

The role is responsible and accountable for risk management, ethical behavior, and ensuring a positive customer experience by following policies and procedures, and maintaining trust and confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify financial needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of Retail products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Utilize marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments.
  • Focus on cross-selling and outside sales activities.
  • Establish relationships with Business Partners and refer customers to provide holistic solutions.
  • Meet/exceed customer experience and sales goals, and contribute to revenue growth.
  • Guide CSRs in sales and referral processes.
  • Promote customer satisfaction with professionalism and a helpful demeanor.
  • Handle customer questions and issues confidently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Bank's code of conduct and policies.
  • Participate in loan and bankcard processes, and in opening/closing of the Financial Center or Bank Mart.
  • Stay updated on procedures to mitigate fraud and risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred.
  • Ability to develop comfort with sales activities and cross-selling.
  • Understanding of advanced math for credit and financial analysis.
  • Professional appearance and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Retail policies and sound judgment.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS required at employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
  • Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training.
