Position Overview:

As a Personal Banker at Provident Bank, your primary role is to establish relationships with customers and prospective customers to understand, identify, and satisfy their financial needs while providing a positive customer experience during every branch interaction.

The Personal Banker position is dynamic, performing both transaction and sales duties. Responsibilities may vary daily based on branch needs, including processing financial transactions, opening accounts, cross-selling, tele-consulting, developing relationships, servicing accounts, check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments, greeting customers, and conducting needs assessments. The role may also involve researching and resolving account issues, promoting products and services, and referring customers internally. Meeting sales targets for deposits, loans, and revenue, managing cash drawers, and supporting branch operations are also key responsibilities. This role may qualify for Life and Health Licensing.

All employees are expected to adhere to the Bank’s Code of Ethics, Core Values, and Mission Statement. The position works under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet sales and cross-selling goals by understanding product features and benefits to meet customer needs.
  • Promote bank products and resolve inquiries concerning accounts or services.
  • Refer customers for commercial products or services to appropriate staff.
  • Exceed customer expectations through active engagement and relationship building.
  • Develop and grow a book of business through consultative needs assessments.
Service:
  • Identify opportunities with customers and prospects through lobby management.
  • Assist with digital technologies and refer to other lines of business.
  • Maintain cost efficiency, quality of service, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure a positive customer service experience.
Operations:
  • Ensure operational and financial safety compliance with policies and laws.
  • Use lobby management to control and mitigate risks.
  • Verify customer identity and follow all compliance procedures.
  • Assist with branch operations, perform transactions, and prepare reports.
  • Support training of staff and handle high call volumes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of sales and service experience in retail banking.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Strong math, analytical, and PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must register as a mortgage loan originator with NMLS if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Retail banking experience.
  • Life and Health Licenses for investment support.
Working Conditions:

Work primarily in retail banking branches, with possible travel and overtime. Capable of lifting 5-25 lbs., prolonged sitting/standing, and occasional bending.
