Job Summary

Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our KeyBank communities. Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to assist in clients' financial wellness both in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker will work toward attracting new clients to Key and work with existing clients to develop and expand relationships based on their unique financial goals, leading to client confidence in their finances. The Personal Banker is a client-first, sales-driven, self-motivated, and competitive individual. Strong teamwork, communication skills, and confidence are critical for this role. Responsibilities
  1. Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially.
  2. Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients.
  3. Consistently attain individual activity, behavior, and outcome expectations.
  4. Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
  5. Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners, focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships with current clients; effectively manage internal and external centers of influence.
  6. Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including documentation of client interactions.
  7. Support branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  8. Participate in and occasionally facilitate morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be added at any time with or without notice.
  10. Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, conduct business ethically, avoid conflicts of interest, and act in the best interests of Key and its clients.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required); Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in developing customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources. Experience with sales is more important than financial services experience.
  • Understanding of consumer credit, including loan-to-value, debt-to-income, and credit reports.
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking.
  • Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions.
  • Experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence.
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows, Office) and digital technology (mobile, apps, web).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Notary License (preferred).
Additional Requirements
  • Compliance with all rules and regulations of The SAFE Act for Mortgage Loan Officers.
  • Physical ability to perform duties involving standing, lifting, and handling objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license for operating a motor vehicle.
