Job Description
A Personal Banker delivers an excellent experience to current and potential customers. This role requires exceptional customer service, confidence, leadership, sales aptitude, attention to detail, and knowledge of bank products and services. You will support and service customers through in-person, phone, and email interactions, ensuring a consistent, prompt, and professional customer experience while building long-term relationships.
Job Requirements
- Understand and apply operational policies that evolve with customer behaviors and channel growth.
- Understand consumer lending processes related to cross-sell opportunities, loan products, and interest rates.
- Identify customers during interactions using established guidelines.
- Provide accurate account information following security procedures.
- Recognize account flags such as holds or delinquent loans.
- Understand check hold processes and procedures.
- Be customer-focused and communicate enthusiastically and positively.
- Greet customers warmly, provide quality service, and seek to exceed expectations.
- Support individual and enterprise goals set by management.
- Use system software effectively.
- Promote honest communication within the organization.
- Demonstrate behaviors aligned with bank philosophies and leadership traits.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal service.
- Proactively seek financial solutions to meet customer needs and build relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of banking products and educate customers on emerging technology.
- Process transactions accurately while safeguarding against fraud and protecting customer privacy.
- Make decisions confidently and perform transactions with minimal supervision.
- Greet customers in various settings and handle basic banking transactions efficiently.
- Issue money orders, cashier's checks, and redeem bonds.
- Follow policies, procedures, and regulations, staying updated on changes.
- Assist with customer inquiries, account statements, check orders, and address change requests.
- Identify product needs through questioning and refer customers to appropriate departments or partners.
- Expand customer relationships to achieve or exceed goals.
- Follow all disclosures, audit standards, and security policies.
- Create a positive client experience and promote bank products and services.
- Participate in community events to promote the bank.
- Assist with account openings, maintenance, and safe deposit access.
- Maintain cash drawer accuracy and balance.
- Assist in training new and current employees.
- Meet performance expectations as outlined by management.
- Work at assigned banking centers; this is not a remote position.
- Travel within the bank's network as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years banking, retail, or sales experience preferred.
- Proven sales, leadership, and customer service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Intermediate proficiency with office technology.
- Knowledge of banking products/services, including digital channels.
- Recent customer service experience, preferably in banking.
- Ability to multitask, organize, solve problems, and work independently.
- Willingness to demonstrate skills by regular attendance.
Equipment & Software Requirements
- Banking technology including mobile, online, ATM/ITM.
- Personal computer and standard office equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to lift objects up to 15 lbs.
- Sitting, standing, and walking as per job needs.
- Repetitive hand movements, communication, and travel requirements.
