Job summary

1stnb is seeking a customer service-oriented teller in New Mexico who can handle cash transactions in a high-volume branch and promote bank products to customers. You will evaluate relationships, follow policies, and work toward monthly new account goals while assisting a diverse clientele including Spanish speakers.

The role requires a flexible schedule, teamwork, and reliable attendance, with background checks as part of the hiring process. This position is on-site at our local branch.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of work experience in a retail or customer service environment preferred.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy.
• Must work well in a team and get along with co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service while handling cash in a high-volume sales environment.
• Evaluate customer relationships and recommend bank products and services.
• Follow bank policies and supervisor direction.
• Achieve monthly new account production targets set by management.
• Participate in in-store sales activities and prospecting as needed.
• Process deposits and cash withdrawals and balance daily operations.
• Receive cash and checks, verify amounts, and check endorsements.
• Examine cash to guard against counterfeit checks and ID.
• Enter transactions into the computer and issue receipts.
• Sell and prepare money orders, cashier's checks, wires, and CDs.
• Process Western Union wires and cash advances.
• Cross-sell bank services to a diverse customer base, including Spanish speakers.
• Perform other tasks as requested by supervisors.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Job Description

• Under direct supervision, provide exceptional customer service, involving receipt and payment of cash, while working in a high volume, sales environment.
• Evaluate new and existing customer relationships and recommend bank products and services to support their financial success
• Follow established policies in accordance with the bank and the supervisor s direction
• Accountable for the personal achievement of monthly new account production as assigned by upper management
• Participate in an active sales environment that may require in-store aisle prospecting
• Process deposits and pay out funds in accordance with bank procedures, to record all transactions accurately and balance each day's operations
• Receive cash and checks for deposit, verify amounts, and look for check endorsements
• Examine cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit checks and identification
• Enter transactions into computer and issue customer receipts
• Sell and prepare money orders, cashier's checks, bank-to-bank wires, and certificates of deposit
• Process western union wires and cash advances
• Cross-sell bank services and products
• Provide bank services to a diverse customer base, including a large Spanish speaking population
• Perform other tasks requested by supervisors as they relate to the bank and its functions
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality

• Approval limits will be based upon established authority levels

Environmental and Physical Requirements

• Required to stand or walk for extended periods of time dependent upon branch location
• Ability to work in a high volume, stressful and noisy environment
• Schedules are prepared based on business need and subject to change at any time
• Operate a computer and other office machinery
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
