Job summary

Jewish Family and Children’s Services is seeking a Personal Assistant to provide compassionate, non-clinical support to older adults in their homes in San Francisco. The role is part-time, in-person, and does not include benefits.

Flexibility is required to accommodate a changing schedule and non-standard shifts. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating calendars, assisting with household tasks, errands, and transportation, and ensuring a safe, comfortable living environment.

Qualifications

• Organizational skills to manage calendars, appointments, and tasks efficiently.
• Strong interpersonal and home-based communication and empathy.
• Familiarity with household procedures, pet care, and coordinating activities.
• Comfort with household technology, online orders, and calendar management.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

• Excellent customer service for interactions with family and staff.
• Experience with dementia care in older adults and families.
• Ability to drive clients, with a valid license for at least 2 years and valid insurance.

Responsibilities

• Create, schedule, and maintain a calendar of social engagements, medical appointments, and leisure activities; encourage client participation.
• Assist with household tasks, online orders, pet care, home organization, errands, and communications with staff/family.
• Troubleshoot basic household technology and devices like Wi-Fi, alarm systems, and printers.

Pay Range:

$35 - $40/hour (depending on experience)

• Domestic Proficiency: Familiarity with household procedures, managing household needs, pet care, and coordinating activities
• Technology Proficiency: Comfort and proficiency with household technology, online orders, and electronic calendar management
• Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPPA compliance
• Adaptability: Flexibility to handle unexpected changes and adapt to the dynamic needs of the household and capability to meet challenges that arise
• Excellent Customer Service: Strong customer service skills for positive interactions with family members and household staff
• Dementia Care Experience: Direct work with older adults who have a cognitive impairment and their family members
• Driver's License and Vehicle: Ability to drive clients, either in your vehicle or theirs, with a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years, no major citations in the last 3 years, and current vehicle insurance covering the required minimum limits

What will I be doing?

• Aid in creating, scheduling, and maintaining a calendar of social engagements, medical appointments, and leisure activities while simultaneously engaging client to participate to the best of their abilities
• Assist with various tasks that include but are not limited to: household tasks, managing online orders, pet care, home organization, downsizing, managing mail, drive or accompany clients to appointments or errands, research, and communication with household staff, maintenance workers, and family members.
• Conduct basic troubleshooting of household technology and appliances such as Wi-Fi, alarm systems, safety devices, computers, and printers.
