Compass Independent Living seeks a caring, part-time companion to support a young lady with autism in Weymouth. The role focuses on companionship, reading, and light personal care, with occasional domestic tasks. You may assist with meals, shopping, and accompany activities, including driving to local events.

DBS check may be required. You must have the right to work in the UK and a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle. Pay is £12.71 per hour.

Do you consider yourself a caring person. If so, are you able to spare a few hours 1 or 2 Saturdays a month to make a difference to a young lady with autism who can feel lonely and who might not otherwise be able to get out and about and/or engage in recreational activities?

This young person struggles socially and lacks confidence and understanding of the ways of the world, so we are seeking support from someone who has experience of special needs and/or specifically autism and who is willing to provide company and companionship as well as help with daily activities with which she struggles. We are looking for a kind individual with an understanding personality who might see themselves as a ‘paid friend’ and someone willing, and able, to effectively support this young person.

Main Duties:

• Offer companionship, reading and some hair care activities
• Some domestic chores (this is mostly covered by others)
• Support in the preparation of meals and shopping for these (if required, mostly covered by others)
• Supervise or assist in the administration of prescribed medication under my direction (if required)
• Escort for day to day and other activities that may include driving
