Safeway is seeking a Store PIC role focused on delivering exceptional customer service and supervising store operations during the absence of senior management. The position includes cashier duties, emergency handling, and ensuring daily profits and customer satisfaction.
The candidate should be able to manage stock, maintain policies, supervise sales floor activities, and assist other cashiers with register issues while keeping the store environment clean and safe.
Position Purpose: Exemplifies and ensures strong customer service in all aspects of the job. Directs and controls the operation of the Front End in the absence of store management to achieve sales and profit objectives.
Job Description: As a primary contact for customers, the Person In Charge (PIC) provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. During the absence of the Store Manager and the First & Second Assistant Managers, the PIC is in charge of the store, with analogous authority to make necessary decisions to operate the store at maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. When in charge of the store (generally at night) the PIC will supervise the store employees. The PIC also acts as a Cashier-Checker (see job description). May be required to work in many of the departments within the store.
All store employees during the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director.

“The pay range is $17.38 to $23.71 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).”
