Safeway in United States is seeking a Person In Charge to lead the front end and ensure superior customer service during shifts when store leadership is absent. You will supervise front-end staff, assist customers, handle cashier duties, and help operate the store to maximize sales and efficiency.

As a primary contact for customers, the Person In Charge (PIC) provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. During the absence of the Store Manager and the First & Second Assistant Managers, the PIC is in charge of the store, with analogous authority to make necessary decisions to operate the store at maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. When in charge of the store (generally at night) the PIC will supervise the store employees. The PIC also acts as a Cashier-Checker (see job description). May be required to work in many of the departments within the store.
All store employees during the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director.

The pay range is $17.38 to $26.85 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
