Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A PERMITTING TECHNICIAN I

This role involves responsible clerical, technical, and customer service work concerning the review of permit applications for development within Pasco County. Provides a professional and courteous response via telephone, in person, in writing and on-line.

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use computer systems in researching reference files.
  • Knowledge of Pasco County's policies and procedures concerning application review and permit issuance.
  • Familiarity with the construction trades and real estate.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, deeds, and site plans.
  • Ability to answer questions and review permit applications in a customer service environment.
  • Ability to make decisions and work without close supervision.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, calculator and other office equipment.
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.

*Note: Upon staffing shortages employee must be prepared to work in one of the other outer offices and provide their own transportation. Also, upon Emergency Operations Center Activation, employees must be prepared to work additional hours and job duties

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year of experience in an organization providing regulatory services involving permitting, licensing, or inspections, or in permit obtainment services involving regulatory agencies. One (1) year of experience in customer service duties involving frequent public contact.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Notary public or ability to obtain commission as a notary public within nine (9) months from the date of hire is preferred.
