Job summary

The City of Piedmont is seeking an experienced Permit Technician to review plans and specifications for building permit applications and to provide information on permits and building code requirements to the public. The role involves front counter, phone, and email interactions, with emphasis on customer service and adherence to department procedures.

Ideal candidates have high school education plus relevant experience, and ICC certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade and two years experience as a permit technician in a public agency, with high public contact and customer service.
• Possession of an ICC certification as Permit Technician is desirable.
• Employment background check and Live Scan fingerprinting are part of the appointment process.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications for commercial and residential building permit applications.
• Serve the public at the front counter, over the phone and via email, providing information on permits and building code requirements.
• Receive, review and track building permit applications through the permit process to ensure efficiency and compliance with department policies.
