Job summary

DISA Uranium is seeking a Permitting Specialist to manage environmental and regulatory permitting for mining, mineral recovery, exploration, and reclamation projects. You will prepare permit applications, regulatory submittals, and notices, coordinating with federal and state agencies and technical consultants to track requirements and deadlines.

You will work across multiple jurisdictions with agencies such as BLM, Colorado DRMS, CDPHE, and Utah DOGM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, geology, regulatory affairs, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in environmental permitting, exploration, regulatory compliance, natural resources, mining, reclamation, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, coordinating, or managing environmental permit applications, exploration notices, and regulatory submittals.
  • Experience working with federal and/or state regulatory agencies, preferably including BLM Field Offices, Colorado DRMS, CDPHE, and/or Utah DOGM.
  • Experience with MSHA requirements or mining-related safety and compliance programs is a plus.

  • Support mineral exploration and early-stage permitting, including prospecting, access, field activities, and associated reclamation requirements.
  • Requirement to be in field up to 30% for job duties.
  • Support permitting for exploration, mining, and reclamation projects, including Plans of Operations, prospecting applications, 110(d) permits, and other applicable regulatory authorizations.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to address permitting requirements, agency comments, permit conditions, and regulatory commitments.
  • Maintain organized permitting records and project documentation
  • Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA.
  • Attend and participate in required safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Job Summary

The Permitting Specialist supports environmental and regulatory permitting for DISA Uranium’s mining, mineral recovery, exploration, reclamation, and related projects.

The position prepares and coordinates permit applications, exploration notices, regulatory submittals, and supporting documentation; coordinates with regulatory agencies and technical consultants; and tracks permit requirements, commitments, and deadlines.

The Permitting Specialist will work across multiple jurisdictions with federal and state regulatory agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and its Field Offices, Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Colorado DRMS), Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining (Utah DOGM), and other applicable agencies. The position requires practical experience with environmental permitting and exploration processes and the ability to independently manage assigned permitting tasks while recognizing when additional technical or management review is needed.

Reports to the Sr. Permitting Specialist, or other designated supervisor. The ideal candidate has strong experience preparing, submitting, and tracking mining-related permits, is highly organized, and can manage complex, fast-moving projects in a dynamic environment.

Pay Range - $70,000 - $90,000

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, geology, regulatory affairs, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in environmental permitting, exploration, regulatory compliance, natural resources, mining, reclamation, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, coordinating, or managing environmental permit applications, exploration notices, and regulatory submittals.
  • Experience working with federal and/or state regulatory agencies, preferably including BLM Field Offices, Colorado DRMS, CDPHE, and/or Utah DOGM.

Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of environmental permitting, mineral exploration, and regulatory processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements to assigned projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional permit applications, exploration notices, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to review technical information, identify missing or incomplete information, and coordinate with technical personnel to address permitting needs.
  • Ability to work independently, identify next steps, and appropriately elevate complex or unresolved regulatory issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; ArcGIS proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow applicable MSHA, OSHA, and company safety requirements, while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
  • Work may involve outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, variable weather, extended standing or walking, and occasional lifting or carrying of field equipment.
  • Ability to travel to and work at remote project locations as required.
