Job summary

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Geology, Earth Science, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of exploration or mine geology experience; sandstone-hosted uranium-vanadium deposits preferred.
  • Demonstrated drill logging experience and QA/QC familiarity.
  • Working knowledge of geological databases; GIS software proficiency.
  • Willingness to work underground in remote, rugged terrain; MSHA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Map surface and underground uranium–vanadium mineralization and stratigraphic logging.
  • Collect and manage samples with chain-of-custody and QA/QC.
  • Support underground development with mapping, grade control, and ore/waste boundary definition.
  • Prepare and present geological reports.

Job Summary

DISA Uranium is seeking an Exploration Geologist to support uranium and vanadium exploration and underground mine development across our portfolio. This field-intensive role combines underground and surface mapping, drill sample logging, sample management, database administration, working closely with operational, consulting, and permitting teams from target generation through resource definition and underground development.

Education/ Experience
  • B.S. in Geology, Earth Science, or related field; experience will be weighed against education.
  • 1-3 years of exploration or mine geology experience; direct experience with sandstone-hosted uranium-vanadium (roll-front or tabular/Salt Wash-type). deposits strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated drill logging experience and familiarity with QA/QC procedures
  • Working knowledge of geological database systems; proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS) and Vulcan, Leapfrog, or Deswik.
  • Willingness and ability to work underground and perform demanding fieldwork in remote, rugged terrain.
  • Currently have MSHA certification (Part 46/48 as applicable) or ability to complete.

Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Map surface and underground uranium-vanadium mineralization, including stratigraphic logging, paleoflow channels, and structural controls.
  • Collect and manage samples per chain-of-custody and QA/QC protocols.
  • Provide geological support to underground development/production headings, including face mapping, grade control, and ore/waste boundary definition with mine planning and engineering as needed.
  • Prepare and present reports on geological findings.
  • Log drill samples (lithology, structure, mineralization, alteration, geotechnical parameters); oversee core photography, sample selection, lab dispatch, and QA/QC (standards, blanks, duplicates); assist in drill program design
  • Support in contractor management
  • Maintain the geological database (drillhole, sample, assay, mapping, survey data); build geological models, cross-sections, and level plans; prepare technical reports and resource-supporting documentation
  • Support BLM/state permitting data requirements and NI 43-101/S-K 1300 reporting standards.
    • Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA.
    • Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
    • Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.
  • Assist in special projects, research, or field support tasks as needed.
    • Maintain Tools and Equipment: Keep tools and workspaces clean and organized, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude for working with sample prep equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain chain-of-custody and sample traceability throughout project phases.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team, supporting shared goals and fostering positive relationships.
  • Maintain professionalism with high attention to detail, reliability, accountability, and accuracy in all work deliverables.

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA/MSHA and company safety standards.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or knell for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
  • Will involve outdoor work, uneven terrain, variable weather, extended standing or walking, confined or controlled areas, and occasional lifting of field equipment.
  • Respirator use and fit testing is required.
  • To best service our customers, all employees must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as wrenching, twisting, fastening, and typing.
