WOW! is seeking a Manager of Permitting in Huntsville, AL, to own and drive permitting activities for complex construction projects.

You will lead the permitting process across multiple jurisdictions, coordinate with utility owners, and ensure on-time submissions to support the project schedule. Qualifications

Job description

The Manager of Permitting is responsible for ownership over the permitting activities as it relates to project management. Permits may include the Department of Transportation (DOT), railroads, waterways, drainage districts, city/county permits, and other agency requirements as necessary for the timely completion of the construction schedule. The Manager of Permitting is one of the main contacts with the construction and pole team owners.What you'll do:Manages relationships with local & national power companies to drive permit approvalsReview and analyze make-ready costs and determine if moving the network underground will speed up construction activitiesAnticipates and schedules permits to avoid project roadblocksResearches and gathers data to support the market expansion team in scheduling requirementsSuccessfully negotiate project design and mitigation measures with local, state, and federal regulators to ensure project success while understanding project constraints.Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timeline and budget.Provides follow-up to pending issues to assure completion of tasksCoordinates with permitting agencies to organize applications, adjust as desired, and resolve any issues preventing or delaying the permitting processSupports leadership on Network Expansion projects where assignedManages permitting coordinators across multiple marketsServes as a liaison with internal and external teams to ensure pole applications are submitted in order and on time to meet the project scheduleDevelops plans including timeline, tasks, and schedule for permits from inception through the issuanceEnsure permit submittal packages are in accordance with jurisdictional requirementsIdentify jurisdiction-specific requirementsMonitors/tracks permit packages via online systems, email, or in person as necessaryCompletes all necessary paperwork for reportingSpecial projects and other duties as assigned.What we're looking for:Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Business, Management, or related business-related function; or equivalent related experience.Experience/Skills Needed:5 years of permitting experience, analysis and tracking5 years of leadership experienceExperience in permitting management and obtaining permits for utility construction in rights-of-way and public or private utility easementsExperience with permitting in multiple states preferredexperience working in cross-functional teams preferredStrong organization and problem-solving skillsStrong social, verbal, and written communication skills requiredMust be able to work independently, and with a teamComputer SkillsGoogle and/or Microsoft suite knowledge, Internet software, e-mail, order processing, and database software.Physical Demands/Working Conditions:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
