Job description

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Permit Technician II.

The Permit Technician II reports to the Plan Review Supervisor. The primary duties of this position include:

1. Research, review, and interpret applications, codes, ordinances, plans, construction documents, and drawings; provide information, recommendations, and technical and administrative support for applications and project review processes.
2. Conduct quality control (QC) reviews to ensure the completeness of submitted plans.
3. Review permit fees for accuracy prior to permit issuance.
4. Act as the record retention specialist for the division and process responses to public records requests.
5. Perform minor plan reviews (e.g., patio covers, miscellaneous residential trades).
6. Respond to minor plan review questions.
7. Serve as lead and mentor to Permit Technician I.

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years of experience working within a building, engineering, or planning environment
• Technical training beyond high school in building inspection or related coursework (preferred)
• Equivalent experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities

Licensing/Certifications

• ICC (or equivalent) Permit Technician Certification
• Valid Arizona Driver's License

This position currently follows a 4/10 work schedule, with offices closed on Fridays. Remote work is possible, with some office visits required.

This is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime pay.
