Position Overview

The Permit Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that all necessary permits and licenses are obtained efficiently and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will be responsible for coordinating the permitting process, liaising with regulatory agencies, and facilitating communication between various stakeholders to guarantee smooth and timely project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing Applications: Evaluating land disturbance, construction, and development permit applications for completeness and compliance with regulations.
  • Providing Information: Offering guidance on zoning, building, land use, and other development-related regulations.
  • Tracking Permits: Monitoring permit status. Coordinate plan changes, expired permits, truss engineering tracking and permit rejections.
  • Processing Permits: Receiving applications, conducting pre-application meetings, and routing applications to the appropriate review teams.
  • Compliance: Reviewing plans and documents for compliance with codes and standards.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and other relevant stakeholders to understand permit requirements for each project. Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule for permit submissions and approvals. Alert project teams to potential permitting issues and propose solutions.
  • Communication: Serving as a point of contact for applicants, developers, engineers, and the public regarding permit requirements. Driving to and meeting with municipalities permitting departments.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and organized records of all permits, licenses, and related documentation. Ensure that all permits follow applicable laws and regulations. Provide support during inspections to verify compliance with permit conditions.
  • Policy and Regulation Monitoring: Stay informed about changes in regulations and policies that may impact the permitting process. Update internal teams on any new requirements or regulations affecting permits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in permitting administration, customer service, administrative work, and/or building construction, or related.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, E-mail, and other computer programs.
  • Experience working with plans examiners with municipalities preferred.
  • Experience interacting with engineers, architects, and subcontractors preferred.
  • Experience with zoning, building, and land use regulations preferred.

Typical Physical And Mental Demands Of The Role

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Employees in the position are required to be able to hear and have vision sufficient to utilize all office equipment.
  • Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment.
  • Work from Home will be available as a part of this role with some days each week required in the office
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
