A leading recreation center is seeking a Permanent Part Time Lifeguard/Instructor. This position involves supervising swimmers, instructing swimming skills, and providing water safety knowledge to children and adults. Work approximately 24 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours.

Union: IBEW Local 1730 Hours of Work: 24.0 hours per week with possible additional hours as required for staffing/programming needs
Hourly Wage: $30.57 with benefits as per the IBEW Local 1730 current collective agreement
Job Summary:
Lifeguard: To use trained lifeguard techniques to effectively supervise swimmers, prevent aquatic injury, enforce rules to patrons and obtain emergency medical assistance as required.
Instructor : To instruct children and adults in swimming skills and water safety knowledge; to teach entry level leadership courses which instruct candidates to respond to increasingly complex rescue situations.
Position Requirements:
Required Certifications:
• Valid Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard certification, or equivalent
• Workplace Standard First Aid/CPR Level C Certification,
Preferred certifications, or willingness to obtain the following:
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification, or willingness to obtain
• Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certification, or willingness to obtain
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer certification, or willingness to obtain
• Waterfit Instructor, or willingness to obtain
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and submit a clean Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector check at their own expense prior to their start date.
