Position Details

Qualifications
  • Education: A minimum of twenty (20) credits from an accredited college/university. Indiana Teaching Certification Preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Effective communication skills, ability to work with a wide range of students and staff, familiarity with teaching strategies, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of classroom, small group, or 1:1 experience in an educational setting.
  • Certification: None required.
  • Other: Ability to maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Report to the building principal and/or front office staff upon arrival for daily assignment.
  2. Review plans and schedule to be followed during the teaching day.
  3. Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
  4. Teach the lesson outlined in the substitute teacher’s guide or lesson plans.
  5. Oversee student behavior and well-being during the day.
  6. Perform duties of the assigned teacher, including arrival/dismissal, lunch, and recess duties.
  7. Provide a summary of the day’s activities and student behaviors upon the teacher’s return.
  8. Follow school policies, rules, and procedures.
  9. Exemplify adult behavior and project genuine care for students.
  10. Participate in professional development as assigned.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
  • Salary Lane: ASSTF - Hourly pay starting at $18.25
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Work Calendar: 181 school days
  • Job Status: Full-Time, 35 hours/week
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:45 am - 3:15 pm
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and PERF retirement eligibility for full-time positions
  • Paid Time Off: Eligible
  • Holiday Pay: Not eligible
Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, stand, handle objects, communicate verbally, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
