Job summary

SCO Family of Services in Garden City/Queens is seeking a Permanency Support Specialist to maintain daily operations of the Permanency Support Department and provide assistance to foster care and residential staff.

This full-time role offers a 35-hour week, with 3 days in the office and 2 days hybrid, and an hourly wage of 27.47. You will handle billing, data entry, reporting, and collaborates with case planners and ACS.

  • Process Notices of Changes (NOC) and NOAs for monthly billing.
  • Assist in ACS/SSPS reconciliation for monthly care day billing.
  • Submit Putative Father Registry (PFR) applications and results.
  • Prepare monthly Attorney invoices and correspondence.
  • Submit Permanency Hearing Reports through Legal Tracking System (LTS).
  • Distribute court action summaries and documents to staff.

Program: Enhanced Family Foster Care (EFFC)

Job Title: Permanency Support Specialist

Location: Garden City/Queens (Must commute to both locations when needed)

Schedule: 35 hours/weekly; Mon-Fri, 9a-5pm 3 days in office and 2 days Hybrid

Employment Type: Full-time

Hourly rate: $27.47 per hour

Basic Functions of Position:

Performs daily tasks to maintain the overall workflow of the Permanency Support Department as outlined below. Provides Assistance to Foster Care and Residential staff as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Processes Notices of Changes and NOA’s in internal database (ASARA) and (CONNECTIONS) to complete monthly Billing
  • Processes Census Sheets for monthly billing
  • Assists in ACS/SSPS reconciliation for monthly care day billing
  • Responsible for moving Notice of changes (NOC’s) to the SCO shared drive
  • SCO liaison for submitting Social Security requests for tax purposes to ACS
  • Responsible for submitting Putative Father Registry (PFR) applications and results
  • Responsible for gathering Service Plan Review data from Case planners and sending to ACS
  • PFR- Submit to OCFS and send responses to the CP Team
  • SSPS pre-bill- Checking data against our system and CONNX
  • Responsible for preparing monthly Attorney invoices and sending out Attorney correspondence
  • Responsible for submission of Permanency Hearing Reports through LTS (Legal Tracking System)
  • Distributes Court Action summaries and Court documents to case planning staff
  • Responsible for sending out the ACS/HRA reports to case planning staff
  • Communicates monthly with case planning staff to update internal worker list
  • Responsible for making copies of insurance cards and sending them to the Directors
  • Performing assigned tasks to assist in the overall operation of the Dept, which may include, filing and other functions outlined by the Supervisor
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all agency policies procedures and governmental regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA
Qualifications
  • Education/Degree: Associate degree or higher
  • Years of Experience: 1 year or more working in foster care preferred, but not required
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies and procedures related to the job
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills are essential and the ability to demonstrate sound decision making while modeling best practice is critical
  • Solid skills in spreadsheet and word processing programs (MS Office Excel and Word required).
Other skills and requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and in CONNECTIONS.

  • Ability to work with children and families that have histories of chemical dependency, mental illness, neglect, physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, different cultural backgrounds, and varying socioeconomics statuses.

  • Ability to work varying schedules that may cause you to work in excess of your regularly scheduled hours or weekends if necessary.
