Job summary

The Davidson County Department of Social Services seeks a Social Worker III to drive permanency planning for children in foster care, aiming for reunification, adoption, or relative placement while ensuring education, medical, and mental health needs are met.

You will perform direct work with families, prepare court reports, and collaborate with attorneys and teams across North Carolina, occasionally traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
• Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; completion of Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only).
• Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work with one year of related experience OR Master’s in human services with one year experience OR Bachelor’s in a human services field with two years experience.
• Some experience in finding permanence for children in the child welfare system by working with the children and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services and collaborate with other professionals to establish permanency.
• Conduct monthly visits with the child and foster caregivers, ensuring safety and needs are met.
• Develop relationships with children to ensure they are involved in planning for their future.
