Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR seeks a Perioperative Patient Assistant 1 for the South Operating Room (SOR). The role supports the surgical team by preparing ORs, retrieving and cleaning equipment, and ensuring readiness of supplies and spaces.

The position promotes safety and efficient turnover in a large adult inpatient OR setting. Work is day shift, five weekdays per week with no regular weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year work experience in any field.
• Ability to communicate well with others.
• Ability to safely lift and transfer patients, equipment, supplies.
• Must be responsible and properly trained in the transportation of bio-hazardous items within 90 days of hire.
• PPA candidate may be required to have a valid BLS certification at time of hire as indicated on the position description.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in set-up.
• Retrieving equipment.
• Cleaning equipment.
• Immediately available outside the OR.
• Wiping down equipment, furniture, and OR space.
• Mopping.
• Partnering with a team to achieve an efficient process and meet a turnover target time for completion.
