Job summary

Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced perioperative nurse to deliver professional care for patients undergoing operative procedures. You will coordinate supplies, monitor patients, and ensure aseptic technique within the surgical environment.

The role requires PA RN licensure or equivalent, active CPR, and 1 year of general nursing experience with preference for OR experience. Schedule includes weekend casual shifts; orientation may require full-time engagement.

Qualifications

Current State of PA RN licensure or eNLC licensure.
Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
CPR – American Heart Association.
One year general nursing experience required.
One year on specific unit preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivers professional nursing care within the perioperative arena to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures.
Coordinates use of supplies, instrumentation and equipment for pre and intraoperative care and ensures that the equipment is functioning properly.
Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
Acts as patient advocate and documents preoperative and intraoperative care delivered in compliance with hospital, departmental and regulatory agencies.
Monitors the surgical environment to ensure that aseptic technique is followed by the surgical team.
