Job summary

Waterbury Hospital seeks a Periop 101 Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. This program introduces you to perioperative patient care through a structured, hybrid, instructor-led curriculum over 9–12 months, with exam preparation and ongoing orientation.

Upon completion, you transition into a standard OR RN role including call, with a commitment to stay for two years post-training. Applicants must hold CT RN licensure and complete required competencies.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in CT with BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program.
• Ability to complete AORN Periop 101 curriculum and competency requirements.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care in the OR.
• Complete preoperative patient assessments and verify identity, procedure, and consent.
• Participate in Universal Protocol, Time Out, and sterile field maintenance.
• Coordinate intraoperative care with surgeons, anesthesia, and staff.
• Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation and assist with patient transfer to PACU.
