Job summary

VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting an Intermittent Registered Nurse (RN) for the Perioperative Section of the Outpatient Surgery Center. The role includes pre-operative assessment, intraoperative care, and management of post-anesthesia recovery with emphasis on patient safety and education.

Qualifications emphasize active RN licensure, English proficiency, and graduation from an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
• State licensure required; temporary appointment path through bridge program may apply.
• Foreign-educated nurses require degree equivalency validation.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative and procedural nursing care for selected patients.
• Assess, validate H&P, start IV fluids, and ensure labs/completed pre-op testing.
• Monitor post-operative patients and anesthesia recovery status.
• Deliver preoperative teaching and discharge instructions to patients and families.
• Adhere to ASPAN standards and VA directives; follow SOPs.
