Job summary

SGMC Health on Main Campus is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide peri-operative nursing care from preoperative assessment through postoperative evaluation and to supervise OR personnel.

This is a full-time evening shift (8 hours), Monday–Friday 14:30–23:00, with no on-call requirements. The role emphasizes aseptic technique, inventory support, and staff education on specialty equipment within a collaborative OR team.

Qualifications

• Current RN License in State of Georgia (CPR required).
• One year of experience in a related specialty preferred.
• Ability to work well independently and as a team leader or member.
• Ability to assess, adapt to new situations, think critically, manage priorities, and use problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret policies, standards, and patient care issues.
• Strong clinical nursing skills in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional nursing care to all patients during the peri-operative phase and supervision of associated personnel.
• Assures availability for current physician preference cards and maintains inventory of specialty service supplies.
• Assists with product evaluation and staff education regarding specialty supplies and equipment.
• Determines effectiveness and cost efficiency of potential new products as directed by the OR Director.
