Job summary

Abington Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for full-time day shifts in the operating room. Prior OR experience preferred; circulating and scrubbing experience is valued.

The role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care with a focus on safety and quality in a fast-paced surgical setting. The nurse will develop individualized care plans, educate patients and families, and participate in multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Knowledge of Patient- and Family-Centered Practice.
• Cultural Awareness and ability to engage diverse patients.
• Effective Communication with patients and care partners.
• Patient Assessment and Care planning.
• Medication Administration and Prescription knowledge.
• Discharge planning and post-discharge follow-up.
• Health Information Documentation practices.
• BLS certification (AHA) and RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to plan and coordinate patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, patients, and families to develop individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families to support understanding and adherence to care.
• Monitor patient outcomes using data and best practices to improve quality and safety.
• Participate in safety and quality improvement committees and initiatives.
• Deliver evidence-based care and engage in continuous professional development.
• Maintain documentation accurately in health records and ensure privacy.
