Job summary

Gove County Medical Center in Kansas is seeking a Surgical Services RN Circulator for PRN coverage. You will support pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, assist providers, and ensure patient safety and comfort.

The role requires RN licensure in Kansas, BLS, and completion of ACLS/PALS/NRP within one year. Strong teamwork, sterile technique, and ability to respond to on-call shifts within 30 minutes are essential.

Qualifications

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kansas.
BLS certification required.
ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for surgical, procedural, and clinic care with emotional support.
Assist providers before, during, and after surgical procedures and clinic visits.
Provide perioperative care in pre-op, intra-op, and post-anesthesia recovery areas.
Document and monitor patients’ physical and emotional conditions.
Educate patients/families about procedures, meds, and post-care needs.
Develop and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
Maintain patient privacy and advocate for patient needs.
Operate in multiple roles (circulator, scrub tech, instrument tech, recovery nurse).
Obtain required consents and pre-authorizations prior to procedures.
Complete charting, update medical records, and log patient data.
Stock and maintain sterile instruments/equipment; track inventory.
Maintain sterile environment and infection control standards.
Follow hospital policies to ensure compliance and care standards.
Assist with decontamination areas and safe storage of supplies.
Demonstrate teamwork with perioperative and other departments.
On-call shifts; respond within 30 minutes when called.
