Job summary

Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is seeking two full-time registered nurses to perform pre-operative physical assessments for surgical patients. The positions require 36 hours per week, with shifts from 4:30 am to 5:00 pm, and will report to the Director of Pre-op Services.

Candidates should have a peri-operative background and ACLS/PALS certification. Responsibilities include reviewing histories, performing assessments, coordinating transfers with the OR, and handing off communication

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a strong background in peri-operative surgical services.
• Knowledge of anesthesia, medications and side effects.
• ACLS/PALS certification.
• Excellent computer and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review of patient history and pre-operative chart.
• Completion of patient physical assessment.
• Completion of intra departmental transfer sheet and assessment flow chart.
• Communication with O.R. staff regarding patient transfer.
• Conducts verbal or written hand off communication with O.R. staff.
