Job summary

MemorialCare Long Beach is seeking a Perioperative Patient Care Assistant to join the Surgery Services team. You will perform basic patient care tasks under supervision, support clerical duties, and help maintain a safe, clean perioperative environment in the hospital setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS CPR certification, and preferably prior hospital experience; weekend/on-call coverage may be required and 8-hour day shifts are assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior work experience in an acute hospital setting is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of standard perioperative care procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is recommended.

• Performs activities as identified on competency checklist while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
• Participates as a member of the health care team.
• Respects patient confidentiality at all times.
• Maintains infection control policies and procedures.
• Keeps a safe, clean environment and attends trainings.

• Assists in orientation of new staff as assigned.

Position Summary

The Perioperative Patient Care Assistantperforms basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Long BeachMedical Center. He/she reports at all times to a supervising nurse. This position also indirectly supports patient care by providing clerical support to the unit as assigned. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistantfacilitates a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

• Performs activities as identified on Perioperative Patient Care Assistant competency checklist while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
• Participates as a member of the health care team.
• Respects patient confidentiality at all times.
• Consistently applies infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintains a safe, clean and healthful environment.
• Attends department specific staff meetings, in-services, education and training.
• Participates in selected department specific Performance Improvement Projects.
• Demonstrates skills consistent with standards of practice and Departmental Policies and Procedures.
• Participates in orientation of new staff as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:
