Job summary

MemorialCare Health System in Fountain Valley, CA, is seeking a Perioperative Patient Care Assistant to join the Surgery Services team. You will perform basic patient care tasks, support the unit, and help maintain a safe, clean perioperative environment.

Day shift (8 hours) with on‑call requirement. Pay range is $23.00/hr, with opportunities for shift incentives. You will collaborate with RNs and the healthcare team to deliver patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent Acute Care experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge preferred.
• Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department.

• Follows directions and communicates with the Registered Nurse and other members of the Healthcare Team in an organized, clear and timely manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
• Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient‑family‑significant other expectations.
• Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion.
• Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning policies and adheres to all manufacturer recommendations for cleaning of equipment.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics when moving patient stretchers, specialty beds, equipment and furniture.
• Demonstrates the ability to transport patients safely and is able to correctly identify patients.
• Ability to be at work and be on time.
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
• Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Position Summary

The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center. He/she reports at all times to a supervising nurse. This position also indirectly supports patient care by providing clerical support to the unit as assigned. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
