Job summary

UNC Health Care's Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to support perioperative planning, assist in patient preparation, and ensure safety and comfort throughout the exam rooms. You will collect patient data, assist physicians and nurses, schedule tests, obtain authorizations, and maintain a clean, stocked environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

This full-time, day-shift role is onsite, offers 40 hours per week, and aligns with the posted hourly pay

Qualifications

Language Skills: read/understand simple instructions and memos; write simple correspondence; present information clearly.
Mathematical Skills: perform basic arithmetic with common units and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: apply basic common-sense instructions; handle simple problems.

Responsibilities

Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
Schedules outpatient testing and procedures.
Obtains authorizations for procedures, medications and tests.
Fax and mail correspondence as needed.
Obtains or verifies complete patient demographic information from customers.
Assists in completing insurance, disability and FMLA forms.
Escorts patients to and from exam rooms; ensures safety, comfort and privacy.
Collects and records patient data (height, weight, BP, pulse, respiration, temp).
Performs visual and hearing screening; assists physicians/nurses with procedures.
Prepares patients for physician exams and provides assistance as requested by the physician.
Maintains a clean, safe and stocked environment; cleans/restocks exam rooms and equipment.
Prepares patient charts for next day appointments.
