Qualifications

• English language proficiency is required.
• Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
• Bridge programs may lead to licensure before completion.
• Current full, active, and unrestricted RN license in the United States.
• Foreign nursing education requires degree equivalency validation.

Responsibilities

• Assure sterility of surgical field and safe use of instruments.
• Protect patient from injury from chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources.
• Perform counting procedures to prevent retained surgical items.
• Participate in Time Out for correct site and implant documentation.
• Manage specimens, administer medications safely, maintain wound perfusion.
• Document all perioperative care in the electronic health record.
• Engage patients and families in care planning with respect for beliefs.
• Participate in unit-based education and cost-effective care initiatives.
