Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking an experienced Perioperative Nurse Coordinator in the Houston area to lead and coordinate perioperative care. The role serves as a clinical resource and primary liaison among surgeons, anesthesia, vendors, and OR staff to drive safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN with RN licensure in Texas and has several years in an OR with leadership experience; CNOR and ACLS certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.
• RN with Texas licensure and PSV compact requirement; obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing residency.
• Five years RN experience in an operating room setting.
• Six months in a leadership capacity (e.g., committee chair, charge nurse) preferred.
• CNOR certification (CCI) or ABSNC/NCCA credentialing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides coordination and leadership to ensure perioperative workflow, quality, and patient outcomes.
• Acts as liaison between surgeons, anesthesia, vendors, and OR staff to optimize patient flow.
• Assists with scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation for scheduled surgeries.
• Instructs and mentors staff; leads education and competency development.
• Contributes to program standards, quality initiatives, and cost containment in perioperative care.
