Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND, seeks a Clinical Nursing Manager for the Operating Room to lead perioperative services, uphold patient safety and sterile technique, and drive clinical excellence with a collaborative team of nurses, techs, anesthesia providers, and surgeons.

This role requires a BSN (RN licensed in ND or compact state), leadership experience, and ACLS/BLS certifications; Master's preferred.

Qualifications

• Required Education: BSN.
• Leadership experience: 3+ years or 5 years in OR leadership; or Master's with no experience.
• RN license in the State of North Dakota or a compact state.
• BLS and ACLS certification required upon hire.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, regulations, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of staff management, including interviewing, hiring, orienting, promoting, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
• Allocate and direct staffing needs across the Operating Room to meet surgical volume and emergency procedure demands.
• Manage unit performance by setting goals, clarifying expectations, monitoring progress, and recognizing achievements.
• Monitor patient engagement, quality initiatives, and patient safety for the surgical environment.
• Coordinate and manage operating systems, standardization, service standards, and communication methods to align with policies.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, AORN, federal/state regulations and professional standards for perioperative nursing.
