Job summary

Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, OH seeks an RN Educator for Peri-Operative Services to organize and coordinate educational activities. The role trains perioperative staff, ensures competency, and supports ongoing professional development in a fast-paced surgical department.

The educator will partner with Education Services to deliver ACLS, PALS, and BLS coursework, while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Utilizes adult learning principles and facilitates a positive learning environment for teaching clinical skills.
• Engages in ongoing education and competency development for nursing staff and ancillary staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director of Perioperative Services to identify educational outcomes and evaluate programs.
• Develop and maintain unit-based orientation for nursing and ancillary staff.
• Support preceptor development for orientation and training of personnel.
• Maintain personnel files related to orientation, performance appraisal, and seminars.
• Coordinate competency assessment and performance reviews for staff.
• Schedule monthly in-services for new equipment, procedures, services and medications.
• Act as a clinical resource for learning activities supporting staff, students, and ancillary staff.
• Source and organize reference materials to meet staff needs.
• Help develop and revise area policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives aligned with regulatory requirements.
