Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a perioperative clinical pharmacist to oversee medication management in the perioperative services at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. The role involves ensuring drug distribution, inventory control, formulary enforcement, and clinical services across OR pharmacies, PACU, and satellite operations.

The pharmacist will collaborate with surgery, nursing, anesthesia, and other teams; provide education, participate in quality assurance, and support learners.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree.
• Licensed Pharmacist in North Carolina or eligible to practice.
• Two years of pharmacy practice experience with a BS Pharmacy degree or completion of an accredited residency; or Doctor of Pharmacy with no experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and monitor patient medication therapy for safety and efficacy.
• Prepare, label, and dispense medications per prescriptions; comply with drug laws.
• Advise care team on medication therapy improvements and document interventions.
• Oversee medication processes; collect data and report on medication system issues.
• Educate caregivers, patients, and learners about medications and proper use.
