Periop and Procedural Resource Coordinator

Position Title
Periop and Procedural Resource CoordinatorRemote, Southlake Campus
Position Summary / Career Interest:
Under the direction of the Supply Chain and Perioperative and Procedural Services Divisions, the Perioperative and Procedural Charge Auditor will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation within all Perioperative and Procedural departments to audit for charging accuracy, organizational identified regulatory, compliance, and quality outcomes. The role involves partnering with service line stakeholders including, but not limited to clinic and procedural schedulers, clinic RN's, OR managers, resource nurse or supply coordinator, and coding specialists.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Review clinical documentation to determine if charging for the procedure, supplies, implants, recovery, and any other associated charges are documented accurately.
  • Participate in the process of assigning and reviewing HCPC and charge codes assigned to implants and supplies.
  • Ability to work in multiple software applications to collaborate with supply chain and billing compliance to audit and identify the correct pricing and charging of supplies and implants.
  • Acquires new/updated knowledge of Perioperative and Procedural standard workflows as they relate to business and clinical documentation in the EMR.
  • Helps to gather and interpret data, also identifying trends within incorrect clinical documentation. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to develop and execute mitigation plans.
  • Participate in feedback process with nurse managers, and clinicians to ensure documentation is corrected in a timely manner.
  • Knowledgeable of Hospital policies and organizational identified quality initiatives; incorporates this knowledge into audits to help drive documentation compliance in partnership with unit leadership.
  • Partner with service line stakeholders including but not limited to clinic and procedural schedulers, clinic RN’s, OR managers, resource nurse or supply coordinator, and coding specialists to develop a working relationship and effective work group for problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain clinical knowledge of areas auditing, to maintain a clear understanding of what should be found within documentation.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing or other clinical healthcare related field OR
  • Healthcare certification or license for clinical technology can be substituted in lieu of an Associate’s Degree OR
  • Note: Staff members without a degree or healthcare certification, that have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in charge auditor related job duties in a procedural setting will be considered
  • 2 or more years experience in clinical position (nursing or ancillary) in surgical or procedural department

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing in Nursing or other clinical healthcare related field

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Valid Driver's License - Ability to transport self to various locations

Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledgeable of procedural or surgical clinical workflows and documentation requirements
  • Knowledgeable of relevant national quality, patient safety, and regulatory initiatives and ability to identify and develop countermeasures on documentation trends
