He/She is competent to provide care for a patient population from adolescents to adults.

Job Duties

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Performs ultrasound examinations of prenatal patients following the protocol established by the Medical Director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine department and national guidelines including: accomplishes level 1and 2 ultrasound examinations, accomplishes doppler flow studies, performs transvaginal ultrasound examinations, assists physician with invasive uterine procedures (Amniocentesis, CVS), maintains sterile field during procedures, reviews images and participates in reading session, performs additional images when needed, accepts and performs add-on and emergency patients responsibly.
• Maintains records and documents including: records patient data, ensures accuracy of patient information, completes patient reports and schedules follow-up appointments, inputs data into reporting system.
• Provides Education and maintains ultrasound equipment including: educates obstetrical residents in basis ultrasound, enters all necessary data and patient information into ultrasound reporting system, ensures consistent and optimal function of equipment, taking action to correct problems, maintains clean ultrasound machine, work area.
• Attends mandatory hospital and/or sonographic in-services and maintains current knowledge of specialty through continuing education and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma Graduate of an AIUM approved ultrasound program.
• 1 year perinatal/obstetrical ultrasound experience.
• Annual Trophon EPR high-level disinfection competency training
• RDMS-OB-GYN - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Within 180 Days

Additional Qualifications

EMR experience preferred. Computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and related skills and professional interaction with multiple allied healthcare professionals.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
