Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking an OR Service Support team member to aid operating room activities, patient transport, and preparation and cleaning of the OR. The role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and adherence to infection control procedures in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Under supervision, you will assist OR staff, help with positioning, respond to emergent situations, and support building services and patient preparation to ensure smooth surgical flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in surgical services, sterile processing, patient care environment or related departments with similar skill set required.
• Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• Current BLS-A Certification required or become BLS-A certified within one month of job start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR personnel in patient positioning and maintaining patient safety.
• Provide service support for operating room area(s), patient transport, preparation, cleaning of the operating room, and sterilization of equipment.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Support building services, patient transport and patient preparation as part of the OR team.

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provides service support for assigned Operating Room (O.R.) area(s) related to services, patient transport, preparation and cleaning of the operating room, cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of equipment, and patient preparation. Assists O.R. personnel in the positioning and maintenance of patient safety. POA Pre/post-operative: Under general supervision of the registered nurse, will assist the health care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Provides service support for assigned area(s) related to building services, patient transport and patient preparation. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. Reports to the Supervisor/Manager/Director.

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in surgical services, sterile processing, patient care environment or related departments with similar skill set required.
• Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
