Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking an OR support professional to assist in the Surgical department. You will help with patient transport, room preparation, and cleaning, and ensure safety and proper setup of the operating area under supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning, responding to emergencies per protocol, and supporting health care teams to deliver safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience in surgical services or related areas.
• Certification as Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Current BLS-A certification required or to be obtained within one month of start date.

• Position and maintain patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Prepare and clean the operating room; disinfect and sterilize equipment.

Job Description

• Department:Surgery

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provides service support for assigned Operating Room (O.R.) area(s) related to services, patient transport, preparation and cleaning of the operating room, cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of equipment, and patient preparation. Assists O.R. personnel in the positioning and maintenance of patient safety. POA Pre/post-operative: Under general supervision of the registered nurse, will assist the health care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Provides service support for assigned area(s) related to building services, patient transport and patient preparation. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. Reports to the Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in surgical services, sterile processing, patient care environment or related departments with similar skill set required.
• Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• Current BLS-A Certification required or become BLS-A certified within one month of job start date.
