Qualifications

Our Ambulatory Surgery and Procedure Center has 10 operating rooms and 6 procedure rooms and last year we cared for almost 13,000 patients.

Regardless of role, we recognize that every member of our team is vital! The Perioperative Aide - Operating Room assists the surgery center nursing team in the care of surgical patients, transportation of pre- and postoperative patients, performing a final check of supplies to ensure that they are complete and that everything is ready for the next case.

What you will do as a Perioperative Aide - Operating Room:
  • Works under the supervision of a registered nurse to care for surgical patients before and after procedures, assists patients with personal hygiene (toileting), nutrition (feeding), ambulation, and activities of daily living (dressing/undressing)
  • Obtains and documents admission information in electronic health record
  • Transports patients within the department and at discharge
  • Works in the Sterile Core to build Case Carts for surgical/procedural cases
  • Assists the Inventory Specialist with maintaining appropriate Par Levels for supplies
  • Assists OR Team Leads with obtaining instrumentation for upcoming cases/procedures
  • Restocks supplies/instruments not needed for procedures
  • Monitors daily schedule for changes and added cases
  • Assists Circulators by bringing supplies/instruments to the requested location
  • Makes hourly clinic runs to pick-up contaminated instruments/equipment and deliver clean/sterile instruments/equipment
  • Works with the surgical team to ensure the OR/Procedure room is ready for the patient's surgical procedure: ordering and stocking of supplies, and cleaning/moving/setting up equipment
  • Assists the surgical team as needed during surgical procedures: transports specimens, obtains and documents vital signs in electronic record during a local procedure
  • Assists OR team with room turnover: Help clean Operating Room, remove trash/linen, remove dirty case cart to decontaminate, retrieve case cart for next cases and appropriate equipment for cases
  • Assists Anesthesia with stocking anesthesia carts, completing safety checks and cleaning anesthesia machine between cases
What you will need:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required within three months of hire
  • 1+ years of clinical experience in an accredited hospital or surgical center
  • Knowledge of room sterilization requirements and proper body mechanics
  • Ability to lift and position patients and equipment

Location: M Health Fairview Clinic and Surgery Center Ambulatory Surgery Center - 909 Fulton St. SE Minneapolis, MN 55455

Hours: 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week

Compensation:

22.47 - 32.58 USD Hourly
