Placements24 is seeking a skilled Performance Tuning Specialist to join our workshop in Welkom, Free State. You will develop custom ECU maps, perform dyno testing, and work with clients to deliver boosted performance while maintaining drivability and reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with EMS/EFI, multiple tuning tools, and a commitment to safe, compliant tuning practices. You will collaborate with mechanics and stay ahead of industry trends to achieve outstanding results.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Performance Tuning Specialist with ECU calibration.
• Deep knowledge of EMS, EFI and internal combustion engines.
• Proficiency with EcuTek, HP Tuners, Cobb Accessport and standalone ECUs.
• Experience operating and interpreting dynamometer data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Understanding of forced induction systems and engine modifications.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Passion for automotive performance and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Performance Tuning Specialist or an equivalent role with a strong focus on ECU calibration.
• In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, engine management systems (EMS), and electronic fuel injection (EFI).
• Proficiency with leading tuning software and hardware (e.g., EcuTek, HP Tuners, Cobb Accessport, standalone ECUs).
• Experience operating and interpreting data from dynamometers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Understanding of forced induction systems, camshafts, and other engine modifications.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A valid driver's license is required.
