Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Performance Tester/Platform Engineer based in the United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity focused on ensuring enterprise applications perform reliably, efficiently, and securely at scale.
You will support a major modernization program by designing and executing performance, load, stress, and endurance testing across AWS-based environments.
The role combines hands-on performance engineering with cloud technologies, automation, monitoring, and DevSecOps practices.
You will work closely with developers, QA professionals, DevOps engineers, and infrastructure teams to identify bottlenecks and improve system resilience.
Your analysis will help validate application releases against demanding performance, reliability, and capacity objectives.
The position offers exposure to modern technologies including React, NodeJS, AWS, CI/CD, microservices, and observability platforms.
It is ideal for an analytical, technically curious professional who enjoys solving complex performance challenges in an Agile environment.

Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, scalability, and endurance testing for enterprise web applications.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, KPIs, workload models, and testing objectives based on application SLAs, contractual requirements, and expected user demand.
  • Build, configure, and maintain performance testing environments within AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain automated performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, or K6.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous performance validation throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Conduct baseline performance assessments, capacity planning, failover testing, and resilience testing for major application components.
  • Analyze system logs, application metrics, resource utilization, and profiling data to identify performance bottlenecks and root causes.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, QA, and infrastructure teams to recommend and implement application and infrastructure optimizations.
  • Monitor application behavior using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
  • Produce detailed performance test reports, dashboards, findings, and actionable recommendations for technical and customer stakeholders.
  • Validate application releases against defined performance, scalability, reliability, and capacity standards before production deployment.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing performance insights during sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and technical discussions.
  • Contribute to QA lifecycle activities, including test planning, test case development, execution, defect reporting, documentation, and results analysis.
  • Support continuous improvement by evaluating emerging performance engineering tools, automation approaches, AI-driven analytics, and cloud optimization practices.
  • Work effectively with customer stakeholders while contributing independently and collaboratively within cross-functional Agile DevSecOps teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with integration, regression, system, and automated testing of web-based applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in software performance testing or performance engineering, including at least 3 years working with cloud-based or distributed systems.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with JavaScript for scripting, test development, and automation.
  • Expertise with modern performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, or K6.
  • Strong understanding of performance engineering principles, including concurrency modeling, resource utilization, scalability, capacity planning, and system tuning.
  • Experience testing applications in AWS environments, including technologies such as EC2, ECS, CloudWatch, and RDS.
  • Working knowledge of NodeJS, REST APIs, microservices, and front‑end technologies such as ReactJS.
  • Experience integrating automated performance testing into CI/CD environments such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring technologies including Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
  • Ability to interpret logs, metrics, profiling information, and performance data to diagnose complex system bottlenecks.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift and an understanding of containerized application environments.
  • Knowledge of network performance testing and distributed tracing techniques.
  • Experience with enterprise‑scale or federal application performance testing is highly valuable.
  • Exposure to AI‑driven performance analytics, predictive capacity modeling, FinOps, or cloud cost optimization is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Consultant mindset with the ability to work confidently with senior customer stakeholders and build strong professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and apply industry tools, emerging technologies, methodologies, and performance engineering best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Preferred certifications include ISTQB Performance Testing (CT‑PT), AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer, SAFe Practitioner, or a performance engineering certification.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance with the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
