We are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Performance and Load Testing to build the tooling and infrastructure required to generate realistic, production-like workloads for large-scale performance testing. This role will focus on developing traffic-replay systems, processing API and event logs, transforming large datasets into realistic test scenarios, and enabling engineering teams to reproduce and remediate performance issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build traffic-replay and workload-generation tooling for performance and load testing.
- Develop systems capable of replaying realistic HTTP/API requests, event traffic, and WebSocket or asynchronous workloads.
- Parse and process large volumes of API, application, event, and telemetry logs to identify representative production traffic patterns.
- Transform large log exports and datasets into structured, parameterized, and replayable performance-test scenarios.
- Develop tooling to clean, normalize, anonymize, correlate, and enrich production traffic data before replay.
- Leverage LLM-assisted workflows to analyze large exports, identify meaningful traffic patterns, generate test scenarios, and accelerate workload modeling.
- Build automation that converts raw traffic data into reusable load-test configurations and scripts.
- Develop mechanisms for controlling traffic volume, concurrency, request sequencing, timing, dependencies, and event relationships during replay.
- Build scalable data-processing pipelines capable of handling large production datasets efficiently.
- Integrate traffic-replay tooling with existing performance-testing and CI/CD infrastructure.
- Analyze replay results and work with application engineers to identify performance bottlenecks and root causes.
- Partner with developers, QA engineers, SRE, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to reproduce performance issues and support remediation.
- Develop debugging and diagnostic capabilities that make performance issues easier to reproduce and investigate.
- Establish automated regression tests to detect performance degradation across software releases.
- Document tooling, workflows, test scenarios, and performance findings for use by engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6 + years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong programming experience with Python, Java, Go, C++, or similar languages.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, WebSockets, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
- Experience building automation, developer tooling, or data-processing systems.
- Experience working with large datasets, logs, or high-volume production telemetry.
- Strong understanding of software performance concepts including latency, throughput, concurrency, resource utilization, and scalability.
