About this Opportunity

We have an immediate requirement for a Principal Performance Test Engineer to join our passionate Performance Engineering team. The Performance Architect is a software engineer and performance analyst with a passion for optimizing the performance of applications. This highly technical position is responsible for the performance engineering of distributed computing environments and providing analytical stress evaluations of applications/systems and service level compliance using statistical, analytical, and simulation methods. They will work hand-in-hand with developers and test engineers to deliver high performing, business-critical applications.

The Information Technology group delivers secure, reliable technology solutions that enable DTCC to be the trusted infrastructure of the global capital markets. The team delivers high-quality information through activities that include development of essential applications, building infrastructure capabilities to meet client needs and implementing data standards and governance.

Department: IT Governance & Assurance

The IT Governance and Assurance Department focuses on advancing organizational goals through the effective and efficient use of IT, by ensuring IT has the necessary capabilities and controls to enhance the stability of products. The department is also responsible for maturing core IT business management and governance capabilities.

What You'll Do

  1. Coordination / leadership of performance team and external team members, e.g. product, development, DBA, middleware, network
  2. Assist in the development of estimates for projects
  3. Assist with resource assignments and coordinate between teams at multiple locations to ensure on time delivery of projects
  4. Work with product and development teams to define and maintain non-functional requirements to work into test plans
  5. Deliver effective performance analysis, reporting and presentations to stakeholders (business, development)
  6. Perform the analysis of relationships between the non-functional requirements and key performance metrics
  7. Coordinate troubleshooting of infrastructure and application issues
  8. Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and bottlenecks
  9. Defect tracking and reporting
  10. Work closely with application development and other technical teams to ensure that defects are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  11. Develop and maintain statistical models of key performance metrics
  12. Construct and maintain analytical models of applications/systems
  13. Proactively identify areas for further research and analysis
  14. Lead and participate in knowledge sharing activities
  15. Mitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

Sound Like You?

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with Masters or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum of 7 years of related experience
  3. Minimum of 6 years of experience in performance engineering (analysis, testing, and tuning)
  4. Minimum of 4 years of experience developing n-tier, J2EE software applications
  5. Minimum of 4 years of experience working in Unix or Linux environments
  6. Expertise in performance analysis of distributed platforms including Linux, Windows, AWS, Containers and VMware (tools: TeamQuest, OMi, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk)
  7. Substantial knowledge of the functionality and performance aspects of the above computing platforms
  8. Experience in advanced statistical and analytical modeling
  9. Excellent analytical skills including:
    1. Data exploration, analysis and presentation utilizing descriptive statistics and graphical techniques
    2. Time series analysis and forecasting
    3. Key Performance and Volume metrics relationship modeling
  10. Understanding of queuing networks modeling and simulation modeling concepts and experience with one of the industry standard analytic modeling tools – TeamQuest, Metron-Athenee, HyPerformix, and BMC
  11. Expertise in load testing tools, such as JMeter, LoadRunner etc.
  12. Experience in scripting (Perl, Unix shell, Python, Terraform, Chef, Jenkins)
  13. Experience using JMS/IBM-MQ messaging system
  14. Understanding of RESTful web service, JSON, and XML
  15. Experience in Relational Databases, preferably Oracle
  16. Experience working with AWS services (Kinesis, Elastic Beanstalk, Cloudwatch, Lambda, etc)
  17. Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementations, including testing, using Jenkins or similar tool
  18. Expert MS Office skills. Effective use of Excel statistical functions and advanced Power Point presentation skills
  19. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  20. Experience working with Agile teams (preferably scrum)
  21. In-depth knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  22. Experience in the financial services industry
