Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) seeks a senior software engineer specialized in performance benchmarking and automation. You will join a core team working with AMD hardware and software platforms to evaluate and optimize performance using real-world workloads and industry benchmarks.

You will drive automated benchmarking pipelines across Windows, Linux, and macOS, developing cross-platform solutions and instrumentation to translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong OO programming background with C/C++/C# preferred.
• Experience across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Experience with concurrent programming, threading models, and synchronization primitives.
• Proficiency with debugging, profiling, and Git-based source control.
• Experience writing microbenchmarks and automating real-world applications.

Responsibilities

• Benchmarking & workloads: develop and maintain automated benchmarking workflows using applications to evaluate CPU, GPU, memory and storage performance.
• Automation & infrastructure: build and maintain automation frameworks for workload execution, result collection, and analysis.
• Cross-platform development: create and maintain cross-platform solutions for Windows, Windows on ARM, macOS, and Linux.
• Performance analysis & hardware collaboration: debug performance issues with hardware teams and provide instrumentation hooks.

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a senior individualcontributor software engineer with deepexpertisein performance benchmarking and automation. You will join a core team of highly skilled specialists working with the latest AMD hardware and software platforms to evaluate,optimize, and characterize performance usingreal-worldworkloads and industry benchmarks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benchmarking & Workloads:

• Develop andmaintainautomated benchmarking workflows using commercial ISV applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, games) to evaluate CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and platform performance.
• Design and implement hardwareaware ofworkloads and microbenchmarks to characterize system and SoC performance.
• Ensure benchmark repeatability,result inintegrity, and controlled variance across platforms.

Automation & Infrastructure:

• Build andmaintainautomation and orchestration frameworks for workload execution, result collection, and analysis.
• Improve reliability, observability, and scalability of automated performance runs.
• Integrate application code, scripts, andplatformspecifictooling into unified benchmarking pipelines.
• Collaborate using Git and modern development workflows to deliver highquality, maintainable code.

Cross-platform Development:

• Create andmaintaincross-platformsolutions supporting Windows, Windows on ARM, macOS, and Linux.
• Developcross-platformexecution and control harnesses using technologies such as QT and/or .NET, including lightweight GUIs used to configure, run, and visualize benchmarking workflows.

Performance Analysis & Hardware Collaboration:

• Debug complex performance issues in collaboration with hardware tracing, power, and performance optimization teams.
• Provide platform instrumentation hooks and infrastructure support to enablelowleveldata collection and analysis.
• Translate raw performance data into actionable insights for internal stakeholders.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Strongobject-orientedprogramming background; C/C++/C# strongly preferred.
• Excellentproblemsolving, debugging, and systemlevel troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Experience with concurrent programming, threading models, and synchronization primitives.
• Proficiencywith software development tools and processes, including debuggers, profilers, and Gitbased source control.
• Experience writing microbenchmarks to measure performance characteristics of CPUs, GPUs, or SoCs.
• Experience automatingreal-worldapplications and/or games into scalable test suites.
• Familiarity with QT or .NET application frameworks, including MVVM architecture, databinding, and custom renderers.
• Exposure to OSlevel development on Windows, Linux, and/or Android is a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
