Job summary

Texas A&M Athletics department is seeking a Performance Nutrition Fellow to support nutrition education programs for student-athletes, coordinate fueling operations, and help develop resources to optimize performance.

Under general supervision, you will collaborate with Performance Nutrition staff and other Athletics personnel to promote health and athletic excellence through education, counseling, and program development.

Qualifications

  • RD and LD registrations or eligibility within 3 months of employment.

What We Want

The Performance Nutrition Fellow, under general supervision, performs program fellow duties supporting the Performance Nutrition program. Assists with planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nutrition education programs and services for student-athletes. Supports Performance Nutrition staff with educational programming, fueling operations, program administration, research, and development of nutrition resources. Works collaboratively with Performance Nutrition staff and other Athletics personnel to support program goals and student-athlete health and performance.

Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, University breaks, and other times as required by Athletics schedules and assigned program activities.

Responsibilities
  • Nutrition Education/Team Support Assist the Olympic Performance Nutrition department with daily tasks and comprehensive program development for student athletes and assigned teams Provide assigned team support and coverage including supervised individual counseling, lead team education, supplement education, and body composition testing/analysis Assist with the development and implementation of nutrition education materials and resources for student athletes Maintain effective communication within Performance Nutrition department and other collaborating performance and wellness staff members
  • Nutrition Department Operations Leads the management and operations of Fueling Stations including product inventory and ordering responsibilities Coordinates and directs student worker force for receiving, unloading, and distribution of product to Texas A&M fueling stations Assist with management of student worker force including scheduling, training, hiring, and advising on shift
  • Research and Analysis Assist Performance Nutrition Staff with researching current peer reviewed literature and industry practices related to athletic performance and performance nutrition Stays up to date with current relevant research and evidence based best practices related to nutrition and student athlete performance

Qualifications Required
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant sports experience required.
  • Required Licenses and Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian (LD), or eligibility to obtain required registration and licensure within 3 months of employment.
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or related field. Experience in collegiate or professional athletics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgement.
