Job description

Blue Star Press is an independent publishing company creating books and gift products that inspire creativity and joyful living. As our catalog and Amazon presence continue to grow, we're looking for a detail-oriented, analytical teammate to help us get the most out of every advertising dollar we invest.

Position Summary

The Performance Marketing Analyst will own the day-to-day management of Blue Star Press's advertising campaigns with primary focus on Amazon. This is a hands-on, data-driven role: you'll build and optimize campaigns, keep spend on track against projections, and continually look for ways to make our ad dollars work harder. This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of analytics or digital advertising experience who enjoys working with numbers and would love to learn more about the book industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Main Focus: Running day-to-day ad campaigns primarily on Amazon.
  • Ad Optimization: Setting up Sponsored ads, making daily bid/budget tweaks, running bulk uploads, and trimming underperforming search terms.
  • Launch Support: Making sure new books get ad coverage immediately
  • High Season Support: Provide closer, more frequent monitoring of campaigns during high-traffic periods (e.g., holidays, promotions, Prime Day).
  • Budget Forecasting, Tracking & Testing: Keeping ad spend strictly on target while testing new placement, bid, and keyword strategies to save money and improve efficiency.
  • Category Focus: Learn nuances of the publishing industry and become an expert in audience targeting for books.
  • Secondary Focus: Run tests on additional performance marketing platforms such as Faire, Etsy, Pinterest, Walmart, Target, etc.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of experience in an analytical role or comparable paid media/PPC experience.
  • Comfort working with data and metrics; a background or coursework in statistics is desirable.
  • A background in social sciences is a plus — contextual thinker who enjoys understanding the whys behind consumer behavior.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret ads data and translate it into action.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets); comfort handling bulk file uploads and large data sets.
  • Proficiency with AI tools.
  • Highly organized, independent, and detail-oriented.
  • Team player who enjoys collaborating with creative teams.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 100% company-paid medical for employees and their children, plus 100% company-paid dental and vision for the whole family
  • 401(k) with company match (up to 4% when you contribute 5%)
  • One Medical, Teladoc, Talkspace and Kindbody
  • HSA/FSA, life insurance and optional disability coverage
  • Flexible PTO, paid holidays, fully remote
