Job summary

Jobtailor in Boston is seeking a diligent Music Library Assistant to prepare music for rehearsals, performances and courses, and to manage sheet music distribution.

You will staff the library desk, assist students and faculty, maintain confidentiality of ensemble casting, and support editing, scanning, and part preparation. This role supports a collaborative music program at Berklee.

Qualifications

• Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
• Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
• Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
• A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
• Federal Work Study student may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing.
• Must be located in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Prepare music for rehearsals, performances, and courses.
• Distribute, collect, and organize sheet music.
• Work with Performance Librarian and staff to maintain an orderly library environment.
• Answer questions about part preparation and distribution status, or ensemble issues.
• Attend concerts and rehearsals to oversee distribution or collection of music.
• Administer sheet music for large ensembles.

Job description

• Prepare music for rehearsals, performances, and courses
• Distribute, collect, and organize sheet music
• Work in partnership with Performance Librarian and other staff to maintain a functional, orderly, and productive working environment in the Performance Library
• Respond to general questions from students and faculty regarding part preparation and distribution status, or library-related ensemble issues
• Attend concerts and rehearsals as necessary to oversee the distribution or collection of music
• Process, prepare, distribute, collect, and generally administer sheet music for large instrumental ensembles
• Assist in all aspects of the music preparation, including editing, proofreading, distribution, scanning, marking string parts, repairing damaged parts, and assembling folders
• Staff the library desk during open hours and be available to answer questions and fulfill requests
• Maintain confidentiality in regards to music ensemble castings and administrative planning
• Delivery and pickup of library materials from mailroom and other buildings
